Description

Betadine gargle has a generic name which is an antiseptic povidone iodine. Povidone iodine is a complex of iodine, which kills microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and bacterial spores. It can therefore be used to treat infections due to microorganisms.

Povidone iodine mouthwash is used to treat mouth and throat infections, such as gingivitis (gum inflammation) and ulcers of the mouth. It is also used to maintain oral hygiene, to kill microorganisms before, during and after dental and oral surgery that aims to prevent infection.

Composition
Povidone Iodine USP 1% w / v (equivalent to 0.1% w / v iodine).

Indication

1. For treatment of acute infection oral and pharyngeal mucosa, such as inflammation of the gums and sores on the mouth mucosa.
2. For oral hygiene before, during and after dental and oral surgery.

Dose

1. Adults and children over 6 years
For the mouthwash :
a. Dissolve or dilute with an equal volume with water.
b. Gargle or rinse 10 ml for 30 seconds without swallowing.
c. Repeat up to 4 times a day, up to 14 consecutive days, or as the doctor ordered.

2. Child
Not recommended for children.

Warning

1. Not used to people who are allergic to iodine.
2. Not used for pregnant and lactating mothers.
